Königswinter with Drachenfels
A trip to Drachenfels takes you to lofty mountain heights. The route to the top can either be covered on foot or in comfort on the Drachenfelsbahn cable car. A detour to the Nibelungenhalle with its dragon cave and reptile zoo, a view over the Rhineland from the Winzerhäuschen or an exploratory walk in and around Drachenburg Castle are well worthwhile.
Augustusburg Castle
Augustusburg Castle in Brühl is considered a rococo masterpiece. A look inside reveals the full splendor of the residence, which was completed in 1768. The baroque gardens with fountains, flowerbeds and ornamental beds are a wonderful place to stroll. Another highlight of this excursion is the Falkenlust hunting lodge on the edge of a secluded wood, just a short walk from Augustusburg Castle.
Satzvey Castle
The picturesque moated castle from the 14th/15th century is located on the northern edge of the Eifel and is considered to be the best preserved moated castle in the Rhineland.
The main building was constructed in the 14th century on the site of a fortified courtyard from the 12th century. In the 15th and 16th centuries, the fortifications were gradually reinforced with a gatehouse, walls and towers. The castle then remained largely unchanged for three centuries. It was not until the end of the 19th century that the main building was extended with annexes and outbuildings and a manor house and stables were built.
Golf & Landclub Köln e.V.
The Refrath golf course is still one of the most challenging championship courses in Germany. The special character of the course is characterized by the holes, most of which are completely separated by trees. Several right and left doglegs require precise shots, as the ball has very little run. The entire terrain is slightly undulating and a stream flowing through the course often proves to be a treacherous water hazard.
